VOLTWORKS Inverter Guide: First-Time Commissioning, Installation & Maintenance
- Core Operation: Pre-Charging
The "pre-charging" process is crucial for protecting the inverter's internal capacitors and extending its service life. It must be followed diligently.-
Why it's Important: Connecting high-voltage DC (from solar panels) directly to the inverter's large internal capacitors when they are completely discharged (after long storage) creates a massive inrush current. This can damage the capacitors or circuits.
-
When it's Required:
-
Before initial installation and first use (Highly recommended).
-
Before reactivating the inverter if it has been powered off and stored for more than one month.
-
-
How to Operate:
-
Ensure all wiring is correct and secure.
-
Do not fully insert and lock all DC input plugs initially.
-
Lightly contact the DC input plugs to the terminals to establish an electrical connection that can be easily disconnected. You may hear a faint charging current sound, and the inverter indicators may start blinking.
-
Maintain this light contact for approximately 5-10 minutes, allowing the capacitor voltage to slowly rise close to the panel voltage.
-
Afterward, fully insert and lock the DC plugs to complete the formal connection.

Installation Prerequisite: Ensuring Adequate Ventilation
Inverters generate heat during operation. Effective heat dissipation is fundamental for ensuring high efficiency, stable performance, and a long lifespan.-
Location: Choose a cool, dry, shaded indoor location or a sheltered outdoor spot without direct sunlight. Avoid enclosed spaces, areas near flammable materials, or places prone to water accumulation.
-
Clearance Requirements: Always adhere to the minimum clearance distances specified in the official installation manual. General guidelines are:
-
Top & Bottom: Maintain at least 50 cm of clearance, as hot air typically exhausts upward.
-
Left & Right Sides: Provide at least 20-30 cm of space to allow for natural air convection.
-
Front (Display Panel Side): Keep at least 1 meter clear for easy viewing and maintenance access.
-
-
Critical Reminder: Never cover the inverter with objects, wrap it, or install it in a cramped cabinet without proper ventilation.
-
-
Long-Term Strategy: Daily Maintenance Recommendations
Regular, simple maintenance can significantly enhance system reliability.-
Periodic Checks:
-
Monthly: Check the power generation and efficiency for any abnormal drops via the inverter display or dedicated app. Listen for smooth operation without unusual noises.
-
Quarterly: With the power completely off, gently wipe the unit's casing and side ventilation grilles with a dry, soft cloth to prevent dust/debris buildup that impedes cooling. Inspect all cable connections for security, tightness, and any signs of corrosion.
-
Annually: It is advisable to have a qualified electrician or installer perform a comprehensive check on the tightness and insulation of DC terminals and AC wiring connections.
-
-
Environmental Monitoring: Be especially vigilant during hot seasons. Ensure the ambient temperature around the installation site does not consistently exceed the inverter's maximum rated operating temperature (consult your manual). High temperatures can trigger derating, leading to power generation loss.
-
Troubleshooting Abnormalities: If you notice a fault code on the display, abnormal status indicators, or detect any unusual odors, power down the unit immediately and contact your installer or VOLTWORKS technical support.
